No matter what your age, the soothing melody and calming lyrics of a lullaby tug on your heartstrings and make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Not only do lullabies help create a calming atmosphere to promote sleep, they also decrease emotional feelings and improve one-on-one bonding. Simply put: lullabies are love in the form of a song.

One of my favorite parts of instructing a music class for children is singing the lullaby before our goodbye song. During this time, I encourage the kiddos to find their grownup and for the grownup to hold them close or have them near. As soon as the melody starts the children quickly begin to go with the gentle flow and relax. Some children will snuggle in their caregivers arms while others will lay on the ground and mimic a bedtime routine. Other children will dance as if in a ballet or some will simply just sit and stare. The caregivers love this time.. it is an intimate moment shared with their little besties. Lullabies give everyone a moment to relax and take in a state of happy calm.
My daughter insists that I sing to her at night when she starts to feel tired. One lullaby in particular from the Zumbini collection TJ and his PJ's called "Dream Away" is a favorite. The lullaby has become a nightly routine in our home. The song helps ease her down for the evening and gives me a moment to relax and bond with her.
Sing lullabies.. spread the loving melodies to you children and cherish these precious moments with a full heart. Goodnight!
