Instrument Play

The past couple weeks I have been observing the kiddos during the Jam Box portion of our class. For those of you who have not attened a Zumbini class, the Jam Box is a large box full of every different instrument imaginable! For one song we let the children explore through the box and give them freedom to pick what they want to play. As they say, "play is the work of a child." With free instrument play that statement couldn't be more true!

As soon as the treasure box of instruments is opened, the children immedietly gather around. They work together to sort through the instuments and find excactly what they are looking for. With some of the children, there is an immediate connection to a specific instrument from week to week. Other children like to pick one up, taste test and/or shake it, and then throw it down and find another. Some children will stay by the Jam Box and others will bring their instruments back to their spots to play.

I love watching the children discover they can make different sounds in all sorts of unique ways.

I love watching the children socialize and share the instruments with each other.

I love seeing the younger children develop their fine motor skills from week to week.

I love seeing all the children's personalities pop out with each hit, shake and movement.

I love seeing the caregivers getting into the beat and having fun with their children.

I LOVE INSTRUMENT PLAY.
